UKVI refuses thousands of Indian applications every year for the same avoidable reasons. Here is what they are and how to address each one before you apply.
Why UK Visa Refusals Happen
Most UK student visa refusals are not about the student being unqualified. They are about preventable errors in the application. Here are the seven most common ones we see.
1. Insufficient Financial Evidence
Your funds must be held in the bank for 28 consecutive days before you apply. A large transfer arriving 10 days before your application will be questioned.
2. IELTS Score Below Requirement
Check your CAS letter, not just the general university requirement. Some departments require higher scores than the institution minimum.
3. Weak Covering Letter
If you have a gap in education, changed your field of study, or have unusual circumstances, your covering letter must address this clearly and honestly.
4. Documents Not Apostilled or Notarised
Some documents need official apostille stamps. Check the specific requirements for your documents.
5. Wrong Account Holder
Funds must be in your name or your parent's name. A sibling's account, friend's account, or company account is not acceptable.
6. Inconsistency Between Documents
If your offer letter says one tuition fee and your financial plan shows a different amount, this raises flags.
7. Late Application
Applying too close to your course start date gives UKVI the impression you are not serious about the course.
What to Do After a Refusal
Read the refusal letter carefully. It must state the specific reasons. In most cases you can reapply immediately with corrected documents. Book a consultation with GoAbroadly before you reapply.
